Cauldron, Part 6

11/28/07
---

* Two four-foot-diameter circular doors are set into the middle of the south wall. Each door is made of wood and framed with a ring of mortared stones. The westernmost door is closed and inscribed with a strange glyph. The easternmost door bears a different glyph but rests half-open. The half-open door reveals an iron rim of gearlike teeth, and dim light spills from the chamber beyond. Mounted to the walls of this room are twelve tarnished copper masks. The masks are two feet tall and cling four feet above the floor. Each one depicts a smiling gnome's visage. The soft giggling, chirping, and rustling noises seem to pour from the very walls.

* A slight draft blows into the room from a ten-foot-wide open passage in the far wall, directly across from the stairs.

Rayne barely manages to stifle a yawn as he looks warily at the different doors.

Calico settles into a corner and glances around, ready for her evenings meditation.

Tillandor walks toward the half-open door, and peeks inside.

Jiona seems to be musing over what the speaking mask said to Ethkin, although she has to struggle to withhold a sympathy yawn, after happening to notice Rayne stifling his.

Rayne stares at Calico for several seconds and then remarks, "I don't think I could sleep here. Its a little too creepy for me"

Rayne asks, "And besides didn't Ghelve mention he was expecting company?"

Tillandor says, "He did. And they'd have to come right through here."

Calico says, "he did mention that."

Rayne still grips the handle of his sword with his right hand, knuckles turning white from the grip.

Tillandor nudges the door open a little farther with his staff.

Calico says, "If I saw them coming I could try an entangle spell."

Jiona looks over at her friend's movement, and says worriedly, "Um, Tillandor... what are you doing?"

Tillandor says, "The traps are only active on the closed doors."

Jiona doesn't seem to relax very much. "These traps," she allows. "The mask voice implied that there were many more."

Tillandor says, "Oh, without a doubt."

Rayne nods and says, "Tillandor your fairly certain each door has come kind of mechanism right?"

Tillandor says, "Each door has a trap, yes. And the rune inscribed on the door is the password to unlock it."

* Rayne rolls 1f20+4: 2,4 = 6.

Jiona nervously curls her tail around and starts plucking at the tip with a free hand as she listens.

Tillandor walks the rest of the way into the room, and couches down to investigate the iron rod.

Tillandor says, "Crouches, even."

* Tillandor is attacked!

Tillandor acks!

* Tillandor is struck for 6 damage by a creature standing right next to the doorway.

Calico dashes to get a view and line of fire.

DM says, "Roll initiative."

Ethkin hears combat, but it is out of his range.

* Calico rolls 1f20: 10.

* Tillandor rolls 1f20+2: 13,2 = 15.

* Jiona rolls 1f20+3: 9,3 = 12.

Calico says, "+5"

* Rayne rolls 1f20+3: 11,3 = 14.

DM says, "Go ahead, Calico."

Calico dashes a bit closer and lets loose with her lucky dagger.

DM says, "Roll it."

* Calico rolls 1f20+dex+1+1: 3,5,1,1 = 10.

DM hopes to not have to say roll it for every action a player intends...

Ethkin goes Away From Keyboard. (AFK) [getting char sheet ]

* Calico rolls 1d3: 2.

* Calico expertly tosses her dagger into the room through the half-open doorway, but it clatters to the floor uselessly.

DM says, "Go Tillandor"

Tillandor takes a leaping 5-foot step farther into the room, trying to break the flank.

DM adjusts the NPCs to match the tiles better.

Tillandor swings his staff at...

Tillandor asks, "Which one hit me?"

DM says, "Oh, sorry, they were against the wall. So you manage to escape the flank. Nice."

DM says, "Purple."

* Tillandor rolls 1f20+2: 15,2 = 17.

* Tillandor rolls 1d6+2: 2,2 = 4.

DM says, "That's a hit."

DM says, "Go rayne."

Rayne lets out a roar and charges towards the entryway where he hears the sound of combat.

* Tillandor leaps over and swings his staff mightly at the humanoid figure that attacked him. He cracks it mightly across the skull.

Calico ducks as Rayne passes.

DM says, "Gonna be tricky to charge through this doorway."

Rayne draws his sword as he moves gracefully to his opponent and swings with both hands shouting, "Kord damn you!"

* Rayne rolls 1f20+4: 12,4 = 16.

* Rayne rolls 2d6+3: 6,5,3 = 14.

Rayne brings his sword to bear, breaking bone as he pulls his sword through his opponent in an upward arc.

* Tillandor heals 2 damage.

Tillandor whews.

* The creature is lifted up into the air, then falls downward, smashing a dirty old cot.

DM says, "Go Jiona"

- Hearing the sounds of combat, Jiona quickly moves towards the fighting, readying her spear as she moves. She squeezes past Rayne to just below Green, and engages it in combat, striking it with her spear.

* Jiona rolls 1f20+3: 8,3 = 11.

* Jiona rolls 1d6+3: 5,3 = 8.

* Jiona slips a little on some dust, losing her balance just enough to affect her aim. The earthy skinned creature chuckles a bit, swinging his thin blade at her.

* Jiona manages to regain her footing and dexterously dodge the creature's clumsy swipe. The creature looks a little nervous now, having also now noticed the demise of his companion.

DM says, "Initiative."

* Tillandor rolls 1f20+2: 3,2 = 5.

* Calico rolls 1f20+dex: 3,5 = 8.

* Jiona rolls 1f20+3: 5,3 = 8.

* The remaining creature goes on a 15

* Rayne goes on 9

* Rayne rolls 1f20+3: 17,3 = 20.

* The creature deftly tumbles between the three of you, heading for the hole in the wall.

Rayne runs after the creature shouting, "Oh no.... your not getting away from ME!"

DM belatedly poses the room desc:

* You see a few cots lining the walls of this dusty room. Cobwebs blanket many of the cots and chests. Tiny spiders scurry about. Two rough hewn tunnels, each 5' in diameter, breach the eastern and southern walls. Stony rubble covers the floor near each tunnel. A one foot long iron rod lies in the middle of the room, it's golden tip shedding enough light to cast lurid shadows on the walls.

Rayne raises his sword above his head as he runs at the creature and brings it down with all his might.

* Rayne rolls 1f20+6: 16,6 = 22.

* Rayne rolls 2d6+6: 3,6,6 = 15.

* Rayne rolls 1d6+1: 3,1 = 4.

* Rayne brings his sword right down into the creature's back, pinning it dead to another cot. It shouts, and crumples.

* Tillandor is fully healed of this combat's damage.

Tillandor looks at his wounds in wonder. "Well I feel great."

* Tillandor rolls 1f20+11: 8,11 = 19.

Jiona drops her spear from its readied position, and shakes her head at Rayne in incredulity. "Remind me to never make you mad." She then goes over to Tillandor, and gives him a quick looking-over to make sure he really is all right. "You've really got to stop charging headlong into danger," she tells him with a slight smile.

Tillandor blinks toward Rayne. "Rayne..."

Rayne holds his necklace, mutters a quick prayer of thanks, then resheaths his sword and turns to Tillandor.

Tillandor frowns. "No, that didn't happen before..."

Calico retrieves her dagger, and examines the fallen creatures.

Rayne smiles at Tillandor and says, "A gift my friend, from the gods."

Tillandor sweeps a bow. "Well they have my thanks."

Rayne's smile broadens and he looks quite pleased with himself.

Jiona seconds, "And mine."

Tillandor returns his attention to the iron rod, now that the momentary distraction has passed.

Ethkin finally makes it to the room...

Rayne returns the bow with a flourish to Jiona and says, "Of course m'lady."

* The creatures have dark grey skin, are approximately human-sized, and wear cloaks and dark clothing underneath. They both are armed with a crossbow and rapier. They look like they'd blend in pretty well down here.

Jiona smiles cutely to Rayne, then goes up to the fallen creature (purple), to look it over as Calico is doing, seeing if it has any smaller possessions.

DM marks the fallen with red, in case we want to know where they fell later.

* Tillandor rolls 1f20+11: 10,11 = 21.

* Tillandor rolls 1f20+9: 30,9 = 39.

Calico asks, "these guys remind you of the thugs we met up with the other night?"

Ethkin asks, "I heard a scuffle. Everyone ok?"

Tillandor picks up the sunrod. "They do look similar."

Calico says, "I suppose these 2 are the company Ghelve was expecting."

Rayne kicks at one lightly with the edge of his boot. "I don't know who or what these are, but they are starting to annoy me."

Tillandor offers the sunrod around. "I already have the light on my staff. This will illuminate for another hour, maybe. If anyone else would like a light?"

Rayne shakes his head lightly. "I have no need of it, but thank you."

Calico has a light spell and 2 candles, and is already loaded as heavily as she cares for.

Tillandor asks, "Nobody?"

Tillandor says, "Alright," and tucks it behind his belt.

Calico says, "but is looks handy."

Rayne peers down the tunnel heading south, looking for any indication of where it might lead.

Jiona looks speculatively at the fallen creatures, but shakes her head, not placing them from any other particular time. Belatedly responding to Tillandor's offer, she shakes her head again. "I can see well enough in low light. I'll manage."

Calico yawns.

Ethkin asks, "What light?"

Ethkin sniffs towards Till, "What's that acid smell?"

* The tunnel is 5 foot in diameter, the bottom level with the floor, the upper portion curved, the bottom somewhat flat, but all roughly hewn.

Tillandor sniffs the air.

Calico sniffs.

Jiona abruptly yawns as well, almost in sync with Calico, the extra exertion of additional combat even more wearying. "We should really find a place that we can safely rest soon," she points out.

Ethkin hears the yawning and does so himself...

Rayne hears the conversation and tears his attention away from the tunnel. "I would agree but do you know of anywhere that would be safe except for back in town?"

Tillandor says, "I don't smell it. I do wonder who dropped this sun rod though."

Tillandor says, "These... creatures... don't seem the sort to need it."

Tillandor says, "And it only lasts about 6 hours."

Rayne sniffs the air tentatively, attempting to recognize what everyone has already pointed out.

Jiona only now realizes that everyone else is sniffing the air, and does the same.

Ethkin moves closer to Till.

Rayne looks up at the ceiling.

Calico points at the sunrod.

Ethkin asks, "What are you carrying Tillandor?"

Tillandor says, "Oh, there was a sun rod on the floor here."

Jiona nods to Calico's gesture, and says, "Tillandor... something smells odd about that rod you picked up."

Tillandor sniffs the rod. "Really?"

Ethkin turns his head in Calico's and Jiona's directons, "Kind of acrid, right?"

Tillandor scans the floor of the room, and shrugs his shoulders. "Well whoever dropped it, they're gone now."

Jiona nods to Ethkin, then realizes he can't see her. "Yes, that's right," she replies.

Rayne remarks, "Wow there sure are a lot of spiders in here."

Calico asks, "who did Ghelve not tell us about coming down here?"

Jiona flicks her ears at Rayne's comment, then looks up at the ceiling.

Rayne ponders Calico's words and scrunches his face in what looks like an attempt to make sense of them.

Tillandor says, "Ah, you might be smelling the acids used to make the rod."

Tillandor says, "I never noticed the smell myself, but I'm afraid that's not one of my strong points. At least, not in present company."

Calico says, "the sunrod suggests someone else, other than the creatures, was down here recently."

Tillandor nods. "I agree. The question is, friend or foe? And coming or going?"

Rayne walks over to a cot area and looks at a spider closely.

Jiona notes all of the webbing and the tiny spiders, and shivers a bit, then nods to Tillandor, "That's probably true, about the sunrod," she agrees. She looks around again, and suggests, "Maybe we could continue on?"

Calico looks over the hole, "not origional construction, I think."

Tillandor says, "I suspect the unwelcome visitors may not be from Jzadirune proper, but have simply entered by way of these tunnels."

Jiona considers that, then glances down at the floor, attempting to determine where the tracks of the fallen creatures originated.

Calico looks furthur down the tunnel.

Rayne looks over the cots and says, "I think there was another creature here. There are 3 cots that have been assembled out of the smaller ones, and only 2 dead creatures."

Tillandor says, "Well, we did dispatch one upstairs."

Rayne says, "True, I think we should be careful though. I would hate to find it warned others and came back with more than 3."

Calico sniffs, expecting to scent the creatures, hoping to scent something else.

Ethkin moves up behind the cat, and tries to scan into the dug tunnle for, anything...

Tillandor shines his staff down the eastern tunnel.

Rayne wanders around the room, looking at the chests with a thoughtful expression on his face.

Jiona studies the ground underneath the creatures, then gazes across the room, her eyes flicking to where the sunrod was, then to other parts of the room. "They've been in and out of both tunnels, and the door, over... oh, the past week or so," she concludes.

Calico asks, "any sign of captives, or children?"

Ethkin frowns, thoughtful, and concentrates on a portion of wall...

Calico scents the other tunnel.

Jiona studies the area again, and answers, "...Could be. They almost look like hoofprints, but they're small, and softer than I'd expect."

Calico says, "There's more of those creatures, somewhere."

Ethkin'looks' at the floor, "What are those?" he asks, pointing...

Rayne takes his attention away from the chests to look at what Jiona is studying. He examines the prints in the ground.

Calico says, "and something mechanical left a trace down this way."

Rayne notes, "Whatever it was appears to walk on 2 legs."

* Tillandor rolls 1f20+11: 9,11 = 20.

Ethkin gets on his knees and tries to figure out these 'fine' mysteries.

Tillandor says, "I believe our guests are from the underdark."

Jiona tilts her head. "Underdark?" she asks.

Calico asks, "the what?"

Ethkin turns his head towards Till, "The wherewhat?"

Rayne shifts his attention to Tillandor and raise and eyebrow.

Rayne *raises an eyebrow*

DM says, "The underdark are the rumored caves and tunnels riddling the world. It is said that the network spreads EVERYWHERE and you could get even from continent to continent through them."

Tillandor says, "It is a vast subterranean network of interconnected caverns and tunnels"

Rayne whistles at the remark.

Rayne nods.

Calico says, "sounds useful, and dangerous."

DM says, "You all are probably aware of it, at least as a legend or rumor."

Ethkin raises both eyebrows, really high.

DM says, "It is also said that there are entire civilizations down there."

Ethkin says, "So they DO exist..."

Tillandor says, "I suppose one might say that Jzadirune is even part of it, these days. It certainly isn't part of our over world."

DM says, "We know of a few... Jzadirune would be the tip of the iceberg, so to speak. And there are also dwarven cities and whatnot."

DM shuts up.

Ethkin remembers what he was doing before the talk of underdark, and concentrates on the floor again.

Ethkin asks, "Anyone else see these?"

Rayne goes Away From Keyboard. (AFK)

Calico takes a look.

Jiona muses upon what Tillandor says, drawing upon her own rather slim knowledge. "I wonder if these missing children are a part of something larger." She tilts her head in Ethkin's direction, then goes over to him. "See what?"

Calico asks, "what? Can I see the spiders?"

Ethkin points, "Those. Bugs, or somethin'."

Tillandor also glances at the floor in front of Ethkin. "If by 'these' you mean our scuffled footprints, then sure."

Ethkin blink-blinks, "Those are spiders?"

* A spider in front of Ethkin scurries away under a cot.

Ethkin says, "Wow."

Ethkin exclaims, "Neat!"

Tillandor asks, "What?"

Calico eyes the holes again, "Jiona, could you close one of these up to block a rear attack?"

Ethkin says, "I think they want us to leave. They're waiting for something."

Rayne is now In-Character. (IC)

Calico looks with puzzlement at Ethkin, like she usually does.

Rayne ignores Ethkin and says, "I wonder... with the chests. I wonder if they are trapped?"

Rayne says, "The warning was about plunder, so it makes me wonder..."

Tillandor glances at the chests, at at the room. "I'm guessing... moldy clothes."

- s/at at/and at

Calico is curious, but expects little worth taking.

DM whoopses.

DM says, "A minor retcon/note:"

Calico yawns again.

Ethkin asks, "What chests?"

DM says, "When Tillandor scooted the door slightly more ajar a while ago..."

Tillandor rolls his eyes.

DM says, "It rolled back into it's previous half-open state."

DM hopes that doesn't cause too many retconned actions.

Calico asks, "so, where we want to settle down, and with what precautions?"

Ethkin ahems, "What, chests."

Rayne attempts unsuccessfully to stifle a yawn.

Rayne says, "We should probably setup watches."

Tillandor frowns at Ethkin. "The chests in this room."

Calico peaks out into the larger room.

Rayne eyes the spiders with distaste.

Ethkin hears him and yawns too, "Aaaah, sto' 'hat..."

* The spiders eye you all with distaste. Really. To spiders, you just would NOT taste good.

Ethkin looks at the Gameboard and realizes the chests are in his range, and tries to sense the chests.

Rayne says, "I really do not want to wake up with something crawling on me..."

Calico says, "except for the noise, I'd suggest we make camp out there."

Ethkin sighs at Till's impatients with him, and takes Till's and Rayne's word for it that there are chests in the room.

Tillandor lightly taps his staff against a stone, wedged into the gears of the door. "Ah hah. Do you suppose our underdarkling visitors propped this door open?"

Jiona volunteers, "I can probably seal up a door or two, but it might take me a while to undo my handiwork. And... I'd like to rest in a place that has less... tiny company, if you take my meaning. I don't mind spiders, but I don't want these guys crawling over me as I'm resting either."

Calico, on impulse, pulls a chest to use as a doorstop.

Tillandor says, "If so, perhaps we could close the door and safely take a rest on the other side."

Calico asks, "if we close the door, would that enable the trap?"

Tillandor says, "I believe it would."

Tillandor says, "So if our next move is down one of those tunnels, we may not wish to proceed so."

Calico says, "obstructing our access this direction."

Tillandor says, "Although..." and turns to Jiona. "We may not need doors to move from room to room."

Calico points to the east tunnel, "that direction interests me, ", yawns, "tomorrow."

Jiona shows a smile at Tillandor's statement. "As long as it's just stone or earth, I can make tunnels through it. But we're not really deeply underground, so it takes a while for me to do it again. And if I check before digging, that's another chunk I can't dig through."

Tillandor moves to a wall. "Well, this next room, if similar to this one (and lacking tunnels), should be fairly secure."

Tillandor says, "Provided you can both open a way, and close it up behind us."

* The sun rod sputters and dies.

Tillandor pulls it from behind his belt and examines it for a moment, then tosses it carelessly into his backpack.

Jiona goes over to the wall, feeling it with her hands. "Well... hmm. If I tunnel blindly, yes, I can open and seal it back up again as long as it's not too thick. No more than... say, two, perhaps three feet."

Calico pulls the chest to prevent the door from accidently being pushed closed, and to trip anyone trying to pass in in the dark.

Ethkin takes no notice of the Sunrod's dieing.

Rayne thinks Ethkin is taking notice but attempting not to.

Calico places the chest in the doorway.

Rayne asks, "Well I don't think this room is ideal to rest in. Perhaps we should keep moving until we find better quarters?"

Ethkin didn't even know it was in the room, except for the smell. It didn't matter if it were on or off.

Tillandor says, "Well tunnel through near the door. We know there's a door there, so we can assume there's a space here. Deeper back it might be a thicker wall."

Rayne eyes the tunnels thoughtfully.

Calico says, "If we continue down a tunnel, I suggest placing a few chests to block the other."

Jiona nods willingly. "I'd be fine with giving that a try. Anyone have any concerns with that plan?"

Ethkin says, "Nope."

Rayne shrugs and says, "I can't think of anything better off-hand."

Tillandor backs away from the site of the proposed hole.

Rayne notes Tillandor's precautions and puts a hand on his sword, ready for any opponents.

Calico ducks just outside the half open door.

Ethkin remembers passing the other door to get in here, and moves to the appropriate wall, and spends a few momments sensing through it, spending points if he needs to...

Rayne motions to Jiona for her to begin.

Jiona moves up to the top of the room, facing the opposite wall, then makes a gesture.

* A medium sized hole appears in the wall, about a foot deep. Unfortunately, it does not open into another room, just solid rock still.

Ethkin hmmms aloud as he moves up the west wall, "Not even spiders in there."

Tillandor blinks.

Rayne gives Ehtkin a very confused expression.

Rayne holds his necklace in one hand and mutters something under his breath.

Jiona looks disappointed. "That's the danger of not looking first," she says with a sigh. "It's thicker than a foot. Which means I now can't close it up after us, if I dig any deeper."

Tillandor awes. "Well that's too bad."

Calico says, "well, a narrow hole means thay can't rush us, but we can't easily give chase."

Tillandor says, "I guess that leaves resting in a fairly open space, or searching farther for a safe place."

Ethkin looks right at Rayne, and winks...

Jiona suggests, "Or I dig again, and we just have to watch this hole."

Tillandor says, "Well one opening is better than 3."

Rayne looks startled.

Calico says, "indeed."

Jiona adds, "I can partially seal it up after... hm. Another couple hours."

Calico glances at Rayne.

Rayne shakes his head and glances back from time to time at Ethkin.

Ethkin makes a show of pressing an ear to the west wall, raps his knuckles. *tap-tap* "'Bout two feet, solid stone, nuthin' living in the next room, yet."

Rayne furrows his brow in concentration.

Rayne asks Ethkin, "How do you know that?"

Jiona looks at Ethkin in surprise, but after what else he's picked up on, she's not inclined to doubt his word. "Well... if it's just two feet, then I can finish digging through."

Rayne walks out into the previous room and examines the wall in between the two doors.

Ethkin glances vaguely in Rayne's direction, the same way I sense all of you, *tap-tap* and this wall. The same way Jiona drills holes in the walls.

Tillandor nods knowingly.

Ethkin forgot proper punctuation and capitalization.

Tillandor does lots of things knowingly.

Rayne returns to the room scratching his chin thoughtfully.

Rayne says, "I would like to see if you are correct sir Ethkin."

Jiona's eyes narrow slightly, then widen, and her tail involuntarily flicks a bit behind her in her surprise. "Ahhh," she says, quietly.

Rayne, picking up on the shift in attitude from Jiona, comes next to her and asks, "What is it?"

Calico pulls a couple more chests to partially block the tunnels.

Tillandor asks, "Is something wrong?"

Jiona looks at Rayne, and shakes her head dismissively. "It's not important. Just what Ethkin said made sense to me. Well, then. Let's dig deeper."

Calico blocks both tunnels.

Jiona faces the wall, and repeats her gesture once more.

* The hole in the wall deepens, and you can see dimly into a dark room.

Tillandor moves closer and peers through the hole, holding his staff up to shed light through the hole.

* The room holds fifteen cots and fifteen small chests, all covered in cobwebs and dust. None of the chests appear to be locked.

Rayne peers at the hole and asks Jiona, "How deep is it?"

Jiona takes a cautious sniff of the air that wafts out, just to make double-sure the room is not occupied.

Tillandor gestures to Rayne. "Why don't you go make sure it's safe for the rest of us?"

Rayne raises both eyebrows in surprise at Tillandor, but recomposes himself and mutters, "I suppose I can do that."

Rayne ducks into the hole cautiously, holding the handle of his sword with his right hand while looking warily about for anything that might pose a 'threat'.

Calico remembers to write a note for any of the town guard who might follow.

DM says, "I expect that Jiona's wall sculpting ability probably leaves a noticable 'scar', by the way."

DM says, "Just for future reference. Like at Ghelve's place."

Tillandor assumed so as well.

Calico writes an arrow in chalk on the floor pointing through the half open door.

Rayne braces himself with his free hand as he pulls himself out the other side of the tunnel and examines the room before him.

Jiona follows after Rayne after her scenting of the air, her posture confident of her safety in the room beyond.

Ethkin hears the chalk scraping on the wall.

Rayne walks around the room and after pointed examination returns to the opening and says, "Looks clear to me."

Rayne gets a look on his face like he remembered something and goes around poking the chests with his sword as if they might jump out at him.

Tillandor follows after Jiona. "Thanks Rayne."

Ethkin follows to Jiona's hole.

Ethkin lets the cat through...

Calico enters the room, "I'll take second watch."

Rayne finishes poking the chests and lets his shoulders slump a little. "I don't think we have any worries here." and resheaths his sword.

Jiona points out, "If I can rest for a couple hours, I can block the passage enough to not need further watches. Unless you want to do so anyway."

Rayne says, "I'll take last watch if you don't mind. I need some good uninterrupted sleep."

Calico dusts off a cot and meditates.

Tillandor dusts off a cot, and hopefully checks if it will hold his weight.

Ethkin finds his way to the corner of the room opposite of all points of entry, old and new, and gets comfy on the floor...

Jiona also tries to locate a cot to rest on that will hold her weight.

* The cots are all sized for small creatures.

Tillandor sits down on his cot, as though it were a stool.

Tillandor says, "Ah well."

Rayne grabs a couple cots and puts them together to accommodate his size.

Calico begins purring, like a very relaxed kitty.

Jiona sighs, her tail drooping, at the tiny cots. She watches Rayne for a moment, then shrugs, and pulls her cloak out of her backpack, arranging it on the floor to serve as a thin bedroll.

Rayne yawns loudly, not even attempting to hide it this time.

Ethkin snoooores quietly...

Rayne takes off his armor and places it next to his makeshift cot.

Jiona looks at Calico and Rayne, then at the others, and shrugs a bit to herself. She arranges herself in a sitting position, curling her tail around her legs, wordlessly deciding to take the first watch. She keeps her spear in her lap so it's quick to hand, but hopes to not be disturbed.

Tillandor eventually stretches out on the floor, and rests his head on his hands.

Rayne pulls out a blanket from his pack and after slapping the cots a few times with his open hand to scatter the dust, takes the sword from his back, puts it on the ground with the handle pointing towards him and settles in and pulls the blanket around him.

Ethkin sleeps sitting up, with his back in the corner, his knees up, and his staff resting on his right shoulder with his arms crossed over it.

Rayne says a ritualized prayer aloud to Kord and then seems to fall asleep almost instantaneously, his breathing slowed and steady in a rhythm.

DM says, "Alright, break point."
