WebMuck users may notice a nice improvement in responsiveness. Here's a simple change log:

Server component

• Uses perl ithreads instead of fork() in most cases
• Requests are concurrent rather than queued
• Holds a connection ready to send text for up to 3 minutes
• Inactive connections closed by the server are left alive until their buffer is sent to a client (or 3 hours)

Client

• Starts new requests with no delay
• Sends text with concurrent requests independent of receiving text
• Uses the much more efficient appendChild() function to add text to the output window

It is now possible once again to add entries to the WhatsNew page. It's (perhaps obviously) been recreated as a wiki page, so anyone with wiki edit access may add entries. Please try to stick to the existing format.

Calin has written a new muck client, in pure javascript. Users with proxy access will notice the RussellMuck link has been replaced with WebMuck!

Calin added the SWAMI CARD DATABASE! If you login, there should be a link to it with all the other stuff. Anyone who has a log in should be able to look at the upcoming cards.
