Scooby: The Dooing This game is a freeform roleplaying game based on Scooby Doo. If you aren't familiar with Scooby Doo, this game won't be as fun until you watch too many Scooby Doo episodes. Scooby: The Dooing. 1st Edition in Word format. Print it out on cardstock and cut out the cards. There are:18 character cards (5 of The Gang, 5 Guests and 8 extras.) 6 NPC cards 6 Location/Monster cards 18 Bribe cards 14 Trap cards 16 Chase cards 12 Accusation/Acquittal cards Gameplay: The dealer deals out the same number of character cards to the each of the players. There should never be less than all five of The Gang (outlined in blue) being played, and four Guests (outlined in red) being played. Games of 3 players should have 3 characters per player. Games of 4 players should have all five of The Gang, all five Guests and two of the extras. Games of 5-9 players should have 2 characters each, and games of 10 players (god forbid!) should have 1 character per player. There are 8 character cards labeled Extra Copy at the end of the Excel document for this very purpose. The dealer then deals out 5 cards to each player. The card on the top of the pile is placed face up in the discard. Play begins with the player to the dealer's left and moves to the left. At the beginning of the turn, the player draws cards so that player holds a total of 6 cards. These cards may be drawn from the top of the pile or from the discard. If the player already holds 6 cards, they may not draw. That player may then play any cards that it is possible to play, then may discard any number of cards. The object of the game is to have the most points when the game ends.
The Cards: The NPC Card: NPC stands for Non Player Character. Playing an NPC card scores no points, but changes the gameplay slightly, as written on the card. When an NPC is played, it stays in play until Aquitted. The Location/Monster Card: This card may be played as a Location at any time. The player who plays it gets 3 points. The card may be played as a Monster when there is at least one NPC in play. When this card is played as a Monster, that player gains 6 points and a Chase begins with the player to her left. After the Chase, play continues with the player who played the Monster. The Bribe Cards: This card can only be played by a player who controls a character mentioned at the bottom of the card. Conversely, this card may be used to Bribe another character to power a Trap card. When a character is Bribed, the Briber hands the card to the player being Bribed. The player being Bribed then must play a Bribe card in his or her hand with one of his characters' name for points. Any player can Bribe with a Bribe card, but it must be used to Bribe a player playing a character listed at the bottom of the card. The Trap Cards: This card can only be played by a player who controls a character mentioned at the bottom of the card. To play a Trap, the player must use a Bribe card to bribe another player. When the Trap card has been played, the player gets the number of points on the card and a Chase ensues, starting with the player who was Bribed. At the end of a Chase involving a Trap card, the player who played the Trap may attempt to Accuse an NPC using an Accusation card. The Chase Cards: If a Chase was started by a monster, the chase begins with the player to the left of the player who played the Monster. If a Chase was started by a Trap, the Chase begins with the person who was Bribed. During a Chase, players get a chance to play chase cards for extra points. When a chase card is played in a chase scene, that player earns the number of points on the card, points equal to the number of cards played so far during that chase, including all Chase cards, the Monster, or Trap and Bribe cards. Thus, a 2 point chase card will be worth 3 or more points during a chase scene. A Chase card can only be played by a player who controls a character mentioned at the bottom of the card, except in the case of an Anyone card, which may be played by any player, or an Everyone But Velma card which may be played by anyone but Velma. After a Chase card has been played, the Chase continues to the left until it gets to someone who cannot play a Chase card. At the end of the Chase, if it was begun by a Trap, the player who played the Trap may play an Accusation card. Otherwise play resumes where it was before the Chase. Accusation/Acquittal cards: An Accusation can only be played after a chase begun by a Trap, and only by the player who played the Trap. The Accuser must accuse an NPC in play. If there are no NPCs in play, an Accusation cannot be played. Each Accusation and Acquittal card has a letter which corresponds to another Acquittal or Accusation card. When an Accusation card is played, any player may play the matching Acquittal card if they have it in their hand or on the top of the discard pile. If an Acquittal card is played, the Accusation fails, the NPC is discarded and the player who played the Acquittal earns 5 points. If no Acquittal card is played, the accuser gets 5 points and the game ends.
